Hahn’s Market offers you expertise drawn from four generations of grocers. In 1955, Johnny Hahn bought his first store. It was small but offered the people of Grand Mound, Iowa, everything they needed to make great meals. Meat has always been the point of pride for Hahn’s, and the original meat counter offered the finest cuts in town.
The store was run by the whole family and shortly after, the Hahn’s moved into a bigger, more modern facility.
In the 1970’s the Grand Mound store was sold, and Tom went into the “warehouse” business, supplying hundreds of stores throughout the Midwest. It was then that Mc Q’s in Eau Claire (a modest grocery store) became available. Tired of the road and itching to get back to his roots, Tom and his wife Shirley bought Mc Q's and enlarged it to 10,000 square feet, serving the growing northern Eau Claire neighborhoods.
Since 1978, the store went through a number of improvements and expansions to better serve its customers.
In 2005, the third generation (Brian Hahn) took over, and the decision was made to re-introduce the Hahn’s Market name. These days, Eau Claire has plenty of places to buy groceries, but what was lost is that commitment to the customer and the selection necessary to make a great meal.
The third and fourth generations welcome you to Hahn’s Market. Brian Hahn and his kids can be found behind the meat counter, can help you select a bottle of dinner wine, and his kids will still be happy to carry out your groceries just like their great grandfather did.
